Published on
Honda is practically synonymous with reliability, durability, and stability. It has cornered these traits in the market for quite some time. As the eighth largest automobile manufacturer in the world, Honda has been a staple in the automotive industry since 1970, when they exported their first car.

Established in 1948, Honda designed motorcycles and engines, prior to automobiles. The company originally entered the American market in the 60’s for Formula One before going commercial in the early 70’s.

Throughout the 90’s and into today, Honda continues to build on it’s brand and what that entails. Virility, ability, and trust Several innovative advancements in the industry have come from Honda, including: lighter construction, engine advancements, and eco- friendly hybrid vehicles.

While maintaining a well-deserved reputation, Honda continues to build on its product line ad currently offers 16 models of automobiles. The following is an overview of their top five models, and the reason why they reserve those spots.

Honda Accord

The Honda Accord is known for it's reliability, as well as, affordability. The first car to be produced in the United States by a Japanese manufacturer, the Accord has been on Car and Driver's top ten list for reliability a record breaking 28 times.

Honda offers several different body styles to the Accord, and it can differ regionally. Although the style only lasted for a few years, the Honda Accord originally debuted as a compact hatchback. Later on the sedan, coupé, and wagon were added to the line.

Now in it's 9th generation, the Honda Accord has a combined interior space of approximately 119 cubic feet . The company offers three different power trains for the vehicle, with a hybrid as one option. It can run anywhere between 170-285 HP depending on the model, and is offered in 2 door coupé or 4 door sedan.

Honda Civic

One of the most versatile cars to ever hit the market, the compact Honda Civic has been known as a jack-of-all-trades. From a reliable family car, to a souped-up race car, the Civic was originally created in the early 70's as a "working class vehicle." It was designed much like a Mini-Cooper would be today.

The 9th generation Civic has been described as " energetic, sleek and aerodynamic," and is slightly higher in class than it's original design. All 2 door and 4 door models come with standard Anti-Lock Brakes, and improved rear suspension for particularly battered roads.

Honda CR-X (Del Sol)

Made for the sportier type, the Honda CR-X is still considered a compact car. In line with Honda tradition, despite it's easy handling and performance, it is incredibly fuel efficient, and is conservative on gas consumption. Another attractive element to this model is, like the Civic, incredible versatility. This is perhaps one of the most customizable cars on the market today.

Originally launched in Japan, the CR-X was then called the Ballade Sports CR-X , and was manufactured by Honda between 1983 and 1991. It was later replaced by the Honda CR-X del Sol , which is the type available today. Although there are many definitions for "CR-X," the most widely used version is the "Civic Renaissance Model X."

Honda Acura NSX

The first of it's kind, the Acura NSX went commercial in 1990. Rated as one of the top-tier sports cars at the time, it also offered something other sports cars lacked. Comfort and reliability. The car was even commissioned for racing because of it's performance.

The Acura NSX was equipped with a rear-wheel drive format, a mid-engine layout, and powered by a V6 engine. The cars were discontinued in 2005, but Honda plans to introduce a new version in early 2015.

Honda Fit

The newest of the bunch, The Honda Fit is an eco-friendly, 5 door hatchback and is considered "subcompact" in size. Originally designed in 2001, the second generation was introduced in 2007. Since it's launch, the car has received numerous awards for it's safety and reliability. Cars.com named the Honda Fit as one of the top ten urban vehicles in 2008, and it's spacious interior is top in the market.

The car is available in 4wd, as well as, in the style of a hatchback or a wagon. The second generation won the Car of the Year Award in Japan during it's inception. The Honda Fit is also offered in a Hybrid version.

Overall, no matter what the style, type, or needs may be, Honda always delivers on a common theme: reliability, durability, and stability. Since the 1940s', the company continues to flourish in the American market. They truly listen to the demands of the population, and consistently deliver. Whether it is a zoom down the road in a sports car, or a family trip to the park, Honda automobiles will always remain true to their trusted brand and their loyal customers.
